Titanic Inverness Maritime Museum - Inverness, Scotland

After being unable to find work due to a neurological disease, Inverness resident Stan Fraser put himself to work building a massive 1:10 scale model of the Titanic as part of his very own Titanic Inverness Maritime Museum which takes up most of his yard.

Using two old trailers as the base of his model, Fraser slowly built his homage to days of sea-bound luxury right in his backyard. Eventually large amounts of scrap materials donated by neighbors and even a disused shed were added to the structure. Now complete and open as a museum (mainly directed at kids), the mini-boat contains three main rooms: a Parisian-styled cafe, a replica bridge, and a Marconi radio communications room. Fraser has also installed a fake fog horn and a radio that actually works into the ship as well.

Storms get a bad rap. Real storms—not your smattering of lightning that you enjoy from your roofed porch, or snow that you sled through. Colossi that swell to power in Tornado Alley and swallow countrysides. And destroy—which is often the way we look at them: destroyers. But there’s another way. We spoke with Mitch Dobrowner, a photographer who recently published a wonderful book of what he calls portraits (fittingly titled Storms), to get him to explain why he chases storms and drives through them and stands next to them—for their beauty. Click here to read that interview, in which he discusses several of the photos shown below.

Though these photos also, in another way, speak for themselves.

On the morning January 11, İlker Şahin (40), a computer-subject teacher at one ofIstanbul’s Armenian elementary schools, was found dead in his apartment with his throat cut.

The body was discovered by Şahin’s co-workers who had become concerned about his whereabouts. “He had been living alone in the apartment and could not be reached by telephone for the past three days,” a co-worker said according to Bianet News.

The victim resided inIstanbul’s Kadikoy district and had a daughter.

This is the fourth incident within the past month in which Armenians have been attacked.

On December 28, Maritsa Küçük (84) was found stabbed to death in her Samatya apartment where she was living alone for years.

In early December, another woman (87) with Armenian descendant was found battered in her Samatya apartment. She was hospitalized for two week and lost vision in one of her eyes.

On January 6, Armenian Apostolic Christmas, another woman of Armenian origin was saved from 3 individuals who attempted to kidnap her. While the suspects have not be caught, locals said the suspects tried to deceive the victim over a payment issue.

This appears to be a continuation of a VERY troubling and disturbing trend.  Especially, since these people are completely innocent of any wrongdoing whatsoever.
